Safe, Legal, and Why Do You Care

Dear antiabortion concern trolls,

Even if you did everything in the world to encourage women not to have abortions, up to and including making contraception free, providing no-cost, easy-to-access daycare, state-subsidised in-home childcare, laws forcing employers to give flextime to anyone who requests it, "baby bonus" money, free prenatal care (where it doesn't already exist), and anything and everything else you can think of...

...there would still be women who, for whatever of the plethora of reasons that exist, simply would not elect to have a baby. I realise this is hard for some of you to understand, but there are more reasons why a woman wouldn't want a(nother) baby than simply the economic or social reasons.

In any case, whether the reason is "I've already got two kids and I can't possibly take care of a third," or "I'm disgusted and repulsed by the very idea of undergoing gestation," why do you give a shit? It isn't your body on the line, and you're not the one who's going to have to raise the baby after it's born. And that's the crux of the matter there.

If someone would really rather not do the job, why do you want to force them? Would you trust your books to an accountant who had only become one because the state had told them they had to? That's just your finances; why would you trust a child to someone who only became a parent because the state told them they had to?

(In presuming to speak for the committed nullipara demographic, let me say that Your Humble Narrator really does despise babies, and would rather be shot than impregnated, so there is also that possibly-incomprehensible aspect, too.)
